Join us for a recurring drop-in jam for female/femme, trans, nonbinary, Two Spirit, intersex, and/or any other gender non-conforming folx and/or gender minorities. The intention of this jam is to:
1) build and empower a local network of trans, NB, intersex, and female/femme performers and
2) provide a space for folx to collectively explore improv outside of cis-male dominated spaces and experience a style of play that centers community, kindness, and joy.
Folks of all experience levels will be welcome to join. The cost for this jam will help cover costs of renting the Geery Theater and time for the host/coach.
- When: Monthly on every 1st Monday, 5:30 PM - 6:45 PM, starting October 7th, 2024
- Where: WJ Geery Theatre, 2130 L Street
- Fee: $5-$20 sliding scale per session. Pay whatever you can! You can pay in advance (recommended) or at the door.
- Admission: Open to anyone who identifies as female/femme, trans, nonbinary, Two Spirit, intersex, and/or any other gender non-conforming folx and/or gender minorities. You must be at least 18 years of age to register.
About the Geery TheaterThe WJ Geery Theater is located in this 1899 historic Victorian in which the Pease Conservatory of Music has existed since 1921 in the heart of Midtown Sacramento on the corner of 22nd and L Streets.

About the instructorA life-long resident of Sacramento, Jessilee Windhaus (she/they) brings over two decades of expertise in theatre and improv education and leadership. She holds a BA in Theatre from CSUS and is the Co-Founder and former Improv Program Director of Empire Arts Collective and the Founder of That Plus Chips live sketch and improv comedy troupe. Locally, Jessilee has performed at Sacramento Comedy Spot, STAB! Comedy, and ComedySportz Sacramento, where she served as the Director of the High School League program. She has trained with Upright Citizen's Brigade and The Groundlings and mentored young actors nationwide as a Tour Actor/Director with Missoula Children's Theatre. She currently works as a Teaching Artist at B Street Theater and an improv instructor and producer for Windhaus Improv, including serving as the director and coach of the improv group Sharks Barksley.
