Discover the joy of improv in this fun, 3-hour workshop designed specifically for seniors! We'll cover the basics of improv comedy while focusing on areas that can be especially beneficial, like boosting short-term memory, thinking on your feet, and collaborating with others. Come laugh, learn, and enhance valuable life skills through the art of improvisation in a supportive, judgment free environment!

Class Session:
Monday, November 18th, 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. We will take a break every hour and participants are encouraged to take additional breaks whenever needed.

Where:
WJ Geery Theatre, 2130 L St, Sacramento, CA 95816 (21st and L). The WJ Geery Theater is located in this 1899 historic Victorian in which the Pease Conservatory of Music has existed since 1921 in the heart of Midtown Sacramento on the corner of 22nd and L Streets.

Tuition is nonrefundable. This workshop is intended for those ages 55+. You must be at least 18 to register. 

Parking:
Metered parking and free 2 hour street parking is available near the venue. Breaks will be provided to move cars, if need be.

Accessibility and Comfort:
Seats will be provided both onstage and off, and we are happy to accommodate any requests to sit or take additional breaks for those who need them. All activities can be done sitting or standing. You are encouraged to take care of yourself and your body’s needs! Students are welcome and encouraged to bring snacks and water. Please let us know if you'll be needing any other accommodations and we will work to accommodate you as best as possible! The bathroom is on the second floor with a wheelchair lift, for those who need it. 

About the Instructor:
A life-long resident of Sacramento, Jessilee Windhaus (she/they) brings over two decades of expertise in theatre and improv education and leadership. She holds a BA in Theatre from CSUS and is the Co-Founder and former Improv Program Director of Empire Arts Collective and the Founder of That Plus Chips live sketch and improv comedy troupe. Locally, Jessilee has performed at Sacramento Comedy Spot, STAB! Comedy, and ComedySportz Sacramento, where she served as the Director of the High School League program. She has trained with Upright Citizen's Brigade and The Groundlings and mentored young actors nationwide as a Tour Actor/Director with Missoula Children's Theatre. She currently works as a Teaching Artist at B Street Theater and an improv instructor and producer for Windhaus Improv, including serving as the director and coach of the improv group Sharks Barksley.
