Unlock your creative potential with our Improv Character Intensive, where you'll craft bold, memorable characters to elevate your improv game.

In this hands-on, four-hour workshop, students will dive deep into character creation, honing their ability to craft bold, memorable characters for scenes and games. Through targeted exercises and games, participants will develop five unique "go-to" characters they can confidently rely on in their improv journey. Whether you're looking to enhance your range, sharpen your character instincts, or simply add more variety to your performances, this workshop offers the tools to unlock your full creative potential.

Class Session:
Saturday, November 23rd, 12 PM - 4 PM (with hourly breaks). Participants are encouraged to take additional breaks whenever needed.

WJ Geery Theatre, 2130 L St, Sacramento, CA 95816 (21st and L)

Tuition is nonrefundable. This intensive is designed for students aged 18+ with at least a basic foundation in improvisation. Sharks Barksley performers may purchase tickets on a sliding scale ($30 - $60) by clicking "unlock additional tiers" at checkout and entering the password provided, OR pay the non-performer admission, $75. 

Parking:
Metered parking and free 2 hour street parking is available near the venue.

Accessibility and Comfort:
Seats will be provided both onstage and off, and we are happy to accommodate any requests to sit or take additional breaks for those who need them. Please let us know if you'll be needing any other accommodations and we will work to accommodate you as best as possible! The bathroom is on the second floor with a wheelchair lift, for those who need it. 

About the Instructor:
A life-long resident of Sacramento, Jessilee Windhaus (she/they) brings over two decades of expertise in theatre and improv education and leadership. She holds a BA in Theatre from CSUS and is the Co-Founder and former Improv Program Director of Empire Arts Collective and the Founder of That Plus Chips live sketch and improv comedy troupe. Locally, Jessilee has performed at Sacramento Comedy Spot, STAB! Comedy, and ComedySportz Sacramento, where she served as the Director of the High School League program. She has trained with Upright Citizen's Brigade and The Groundlings and mentored young actors nationwide as a Tour Actor/Director with Missoula Children's Theatre. She currently works as a Teaching Artist at B Street Theater and an improv instructor and producer for Windhaus Improv, including serving as the director and coach of the improv group Sharks Barksley.
